A quick reality check on how good we’ve actually got it
Let’s time travel for a second.
No phones. No WiFi. No Netflix. No Uber Eats.
No warm showers. No clean running water in every room.
No central heating. No espresso machine on your kitchen bench.
Sounds like a camping trip, right?
That was everyday life just a couple of generations ago.
You don’t need to be wealthy to live well
Even middle-class life today—especially in Australia—would look like wizardry to people 50 years ago.
You want Thai for dinner? Tap three times.
You want groceries delivered to your door? Click a button.
You want to learn to surf, speak Italian, or fix a dishwasher? YouTube’s free.
Sure, things are expensive.
But so many of the things we take for granted used to be unimaginable luxuries.
This isn’t guilt. It’s gratitude.
This isn’t about pretending everything’s perfect.
It’s about recognising that modern life has leveled up in ways we don’t even notice anymore.
And in business? That matters.
Because it’s easy to chase more, more, more.
But sometimes the smartest thing you can do is look around and realise:
You’re already living in the future that your grandparents could only dream of.
Might be worth enjoying it.
